UPDATED March 30

Heath Bell
Saw his strikeout rate surge to a career high 10.2, while maintaining an above average ground ball rate and solid control. Calling PETCO Park home will help keep his HR/FB ratio below league average as he has done the past three seasons. No indication here that he won’t continue to be one of the top closers in baseball.

Joe Nathan: Nathan is coming off his best season since coming over from the Giants back in that vaunted 2003 off-season deal. The 35-year-old right hander finished up the 2009 campaign with a career high 47 saves and struck out 89 in 68 2/3 IP while maintaining his usual great ERA and WHIP numbers. Nathan did undergo surgery at the end of October to remove bone chips but is expected to be fully recovered and ready to roll for spring training. This is a situation that bears monitoring, but assuming he enters 2010 in good health he is undoubtedly one of the top closers in the game and should be high on draft lists for 2010.
